Louisiana Benches
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art commissioned us to design 3 custom versions of the ‘Bendy Bench’. The first exhibition they were used for opened in December 2023; ‘The Irreplaceable Human.’.
The benches are crafted in both black and white pigmented pine plywood. Each bench is tailored to complement the surrounding exhibits, inviting visitors to sit comfortably while they immerse themselves in the artworks.

The lower photo shows a white stained Bendy Bench standing in front of Qui Shihua’s Landscape painting Untitled, 2013. Qui Shihua’s artwork ‘stands in direct opposition to the rapidly escalating digital consumer culture’ and requires the viewer to slow down and take time to observe the piece. For this reason Louisiana placed the Bendy Bench in front of the painting, providing the visitors a seat to take their time and allow the landscape to slowly reveals itself.
