Standard Practice is a cross-disciplinary architecture studio based in Copenhagen. 

Our work spans the fields of architecture, furniture design & scenography.
 


Helsingør Culture Yard

The project was commenced with ‌Stine and Matilde Friese as a part of their ambitious redesign strategy for ‌Kulturvaerftet in Helsingør. Our part consisted of designing a furniture series, consisting of a lounge chair that comes in three variations (standard, curved, ottoman) and a stool.


The furniture was inspired by the town’s rich naval history and the curved forms of the boats once constructed in the wharf. The Fiona series embodies these references in a subtle, yet characteristic manner.

To create a more effective and engaging design - our process required a deep dive into colour theory and psychology behind it, as well as a thoughtful material approach. The playful character of Fiona 20,40 & 60 furniture comes from the juxtaposition of carefully chosen colour combinations and their modular features. This interchangeability and the variety of colour-ways enables a vast number of diverse combinations that can be applied to different scenarios.
